Sharjah Art Museum
This museum is a recent addition being opened only in 1997.
There is personal collection of the present ruler of Sharjah
that include valuable paintings, historic documents, and
maps. The museum is open on weekdays except Monday from 0900
to 1300 and 1700 to 2000 hours.
Other museums in Sharjah include Sharjah Archaeological
Museum, Sharjah Heritage Museum, and Sharjah Science Museum
and Planetarium.

Souks
Apart from museums Sharjah is known as its Souks and mainly
Blue Souk that is called so because of its distinct blue
vaulted roof. Souk Al Arsah is the oldest Souk in Sharjah
and was the heart of trade for many centuries in the past.
Other important Souks are Old bazaar or Iranian Bazaar and
Al Majarrah Souk.

Other attractions in Sharjah include Hisn al Sharjah or
Sharjah Fort, Majilis Ibrahim Bin Mohammed Al Midfaa,
Sharjah University City, and magnificent buildings of
Sharjah.
Places Around
Sharjah Natural History Museum and Desert Park is situated
outside Sharjah at a distance of around 28 km from the city
centre. This is the sleekest natural museum in entire United
Arab Emirates and provides visitors with a chance to learn
about the flora and fauna of the Arabian Desert by the way
of fun and entertainment.
Khor Kalba is an important nature reserve with mangroves and
Kalba specie of the white collared Kingfisher. The reserve
is situated south of Fujairah.
